A pensioner and his dog died of heat exhaustion after he accidentally
locked himself in his new sports car.

James Rogers cooked to death after getting into his Corvette when the
battery cable came loose trapping him inside with his mutt, Leia.

The tragic 72-year-old was not able to call for help after he had
mistakenly left his mobile phone in a nearby restaurant.

Police in Texas, US, said he did not know how to manually unlock the
vehicle that he had recently purchased and collapsed with outside
temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Investigators believe the cable came loose after Rogers got in and shut
the car door, with no power to operate the horn or locks.

There is a manual release lever safety feature next to the driver’s seat
closest to the door that allows occupants to bypass the battery - but many
owners are not aware of it.

Rogers and his pooch, a Shih Tzu he nicknamed named “Baby Girl”, were
found dead about four hours later by a passer by.

Several people had tried to rescue the pair but couldn’t get the doors
open.

A firefighter eventually broke a window, but Rogers and his dog were
already dead.

Michael Flash, owner of Corvette Specialists, in Beaumont, Texas,
reportedly said he has never heard of a problem like this before in all
the years of his business.

He said: “It’s a very safe car. There’s no doubt about that.”

Rogers is survived by two daughters, one son, and five grandchildren,
according to his obituary at Levingston Funeral Home of Texas.

Obama increased total debt from $10 trillion to $18 trillion in the six
years he has been in office.

The only American president to deliberately import a lethal infectious
disease from Africa, Ebola.

Barack Obama, reelected by the dumbest voters in the history of the United
States of America.

Loretta Fuddy, killed after she "verified" Obama's phony birth
certificate.

Nancy Pelosi, Democrat criminal, accessory before and after the fact to
improper vetting of Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama, a confirmed
felon using SSAN 042-68-4425, belonging to a dead man.

Obama ignored the brutal killing of an American diplomat in Benghazi, then
relieved American military officers who attempted to prevent said murder
in order to cover up his own ineptitude.

Port Arthur.
Everyone should have something in the car that will break a window.

Everyone should have something in the car that will break a window.
Any vehicle that prevents you from getting out of it if you're battery
goes dead or loses connection should not be even an option.
My freaking pickup truck cost as much as a Vette due to it being
loaded with every option available and I can still open the damned
door from the inside without electric power.
And you do have something in the car with you that is more than
capable of busting out a side window. It's called an elbow.
Better to get a bruise and maybe a few minor cuts than to cook to
death.

I would bet there is a mechanical option to open the door / lock.
We don't know the 72 year old man's physical condition so don't
know if he could have used elbow or not, or foot.
I have one of those spring loaded center punches.
Have to assume it would break the window but don't know for sure.
Stressing the window then center punching ought to work though.
And the bystanders... they did next to nothing.

Such is the way of Americans nowadays. They either don't care or are
too worried that they'll end up in court being sued by the very person
they tried to help.
The country I grew up in where neighbors helped neighbors and everyone
tried to be polite is all but gone.

If you have the same kind of center punch that I have, made by "Labor
Saving Devices", it will certainly break out a side window. I use
mine on the job to make set points in order to drill through steel I
beams and does a damn good job of it. Just three or four pops and it
will sink itself over a quarter inch into a two by four.

Just another Texan with more money than common sense. His kids
will get to spend it all now.

Every car I've ever seen had a mechanical lock button or lever inside
you can activate without power. Anybody too stupid to find it needs
to die before they reproduce.

To leftists, centrists look like conservative Republicans.
To rightists, centrists look like liberal Democrats.
Actually, they're somewhere in between - that's why they're called "centrists".

Republicans shouldn't buy cars that they aren't qualified to
operate.
